m-aMarie-Ange Wood

Executive Director

I was born and raised in Normandy, not far from Caen, and moved to Paris to complete my education and start work. I began my career with a software company, which gave me the opportunity to travel, and later moved to a major insurance company, gaining experience in human resource management. In 1988 I moved to the UK to be with my husband, and qualified to be a Teacher of French as a foreign language. I have now been teaching French as a foreign language for over 20 years. In 2005, I moved to Seattle with my husband and two daughters and we feel very much at home here. In December 2010, after teaching at the Alliance for two years, and serving as Educational Director, I took on the responsibility of Executive Director. I am also a Board member of FEN (France Education Northwest), a 501c3 non-profit association which promotes French to children in schools in the Pacific Northwest.

A très bientôt à l’Alliance...

Cultural Communications Manager

I’m originally from the Southwest of France where I spent my formative years before moving to Paris in order to complete my education.
I have always been passionnate about culture in general and believe firmly in its strong ability to develop a much better understanding among people of different origins. That’s why I’m so honored and delighted to be in charge of the communications at L’Alliance Française de Seattle.
I will always be more than happy to listen to all your suggestions and ideas to make the Alliance Française your French home in Seattle !

mathilde Agathe Bocquet

Intern

I was born in a small town called Laon (pronounce “lan”): from Paris drive NE for approximately 1.5 hour and here you are! Laon is a beautiful old city built on a small hill. The medieval walls, churches and towers are still there today. Yet, like I said, Laon is small and that’s why I moved to Strasbourg after having graduating from High School.
I am now a student at Sciences Po Strasbourg (a school of political science) and a nine-month internship is required to complete my third year. In three years I should graduate with a Master Degree in Internationals Relations. I still have time to figure out what I would like to do but working abroad sounds interesting.
It is my first time in the United States and I am pretty excited about it! When I was a child, I kept telling my parents I wanted to be an actress in Hollywood. Ten years later, I haven’t landed that far… Actually, if you have a friend working there, don’t forget to tell her/him that I am now ready to conquer America!
