Volunteering at the Alliance Française de Seattle

Alliance Française de Seattle volunteers are truly the heart of our organization and we wouldn't be where we are without their generous help. We welcome those with an interest in French and Francophone language and culture who are willing to share their time and resources with the organization.

Benefits of volunteering at the Alliance Française

Volunteering at the Alliance Française is a great way to meet and interact with other Francophone and Francophile community members. By joining our Volunteer Program you can also earn points toward complimentary language classes.

Volunteer Program

Volunteers earn points that can be used toward complimentary classes. Volunteer shifts are counted by the hour (1 hour = 1 point).

Number of points needed to take a complimentary class:

2 points = 1 hour of instruction. For instance, a general language couse ($410/30 hours of instruction) = 60 points.

Please note that for budget and revenue reasons, there must be a minimum of 4 paying students registered in a class before volunteers using points may take the class.

How do I keep track of my points?

It's easy! Hours are tracked in the Volunteer Log which can be found in the AF Office.

Current needs

VOLUNTEERS FOR CULTURAL EVENTS

Volunteers are essential to ensure that cultural events run smoothly. Generally we need volunteers to show up an hour before the scheduled event to help with set-up and to greet attendees. Volunteers are also needed after events to help with clean-up. Depending on the event volunteers may be needed during events to help with a variety of tasks from serving food, to handing out brochures, to face painting, and more!

VOLUNTEERS FOR CINE CLUB AND CINE CLUB DES ENFANTS

Volunteers with an interest in film are needed for our Ciné Club and Ciné Club des Enfants programs. Volunteers help set up the room and audio/video equipment, greet guests and help with clean up afterward. In the case of Ciné Club des Enfants volunteers may be needed to lead a small pre-arranged craft or coloring activity.
