Why you should join
Whether you are a francophone, a Francophile, a language student or a parent wanting to share your French heritage with your children, membership in the Alliance Française is for you.
We bring together people of all ages in a region where, thanks to the coureurs des bois (fur-trading frontiersmen) of what was then the “Oregon Country”, French was the dominant language from 1811 until the Gold Rush of 1848. With more than 6,000 French nationals resident in Puget Sound, as well as an equal number of francophones, French influence in the Pacific Northwest is growing yearly.
But, not only can you discover what is right on your doorstep. As an Alliance member, you are also connected to the larger community of 135 Alliance Française chapters in the United States (supported by the Fédération of Alliances Françaises USA), and more than 1,071 Alliance Française associations in more than 138 countries around the world.
