Students will learn to construct simple phrases in French. Topics related to their everyday life will allow students to introduce themselves and others, to describe their environment, to express their feelings and tastes. They will also discover more verbal phrases and to approach future tense and the sense of formality in French language. All activities are conducted mainly in French with an immersive approach.

• Week 4: July 20-24.
• Theme of the Week: Discover Belgium.
• Level: A1.2 Beginners, for Les Tortues or new A1.2 students (see instructions for a free, 10-minute youth placement test online).
• Instructors: AFSeattle instructors specialized in teaching French as a foreign language to youth.
• Number of campers: between 4 and 6.
• Description: A mix of French lessons, exercises, and interactive games, managed via the videoconferencing app Zoom, the e-learning platform Apolearn, and daily hands-on projects to do at home.
• Schedule: lesson of the day & exercises (50'); pause, away from screen (20'); exercises & games (50'). The rest of the day, students will work independently on a project at home.
• Early Bird until June 8, 2020: $200/week. Regular starting June 9, 2020: $250/week. Tuition includes a $30 non-refundable deposit in case of cancellation. Non-members pay an additional $40 registration fee. Youth membership is recommended to void the registration fee and to get 10% off any additional camp. Objectives of level A1:
- understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
- introduce yourself and others, ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know, and things they have.
- interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
