In the level B1, students will learn to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Students will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Students will learn to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and will be able to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions. They will learn to briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Using a communicative approach based on the most current material and techniques, your instructor will help you improve your vocabulary as well as your oral comprehension and expression skills in French. This is an ideal class to express opinions, to describe experiences and events, or to tell a story in a friendly atmosphere.
• Prerequisite: A2 Review, B1.1 course, or B1.1 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than three quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
