In the upper intermediate level B2, students will learn to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. They will develop the capacity to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. They will learn to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Note: Please keep in mind that all courses are currently conducted online; this particular course is limited to four students. If the course is full, please let us know your interest, and we will try to open an additional class.

It comprises 4 one-hour group lessons (Jan. 11 & 25, Feb. 8 & 22) and 4 one-hour individual lessons (TBD with the instructor during the weeks of Jan. 18, Feb. 1, Feb. 15, and Mar. 1):
- Topic 1: Paragraph construction.
- Topic 2: Types of text (descriptive, narrative, expository...) + logical connectors.
- Topic 3. Text development (generalization, classification, comparison...).
- Topic 4: Improving your text (reduction, review).

• Prerequisite: B2.2 course, a specialized B2 course, or B2.3 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than three quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
