They will learn how to introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know, and things they have. They will learn to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Note: A1.1 is the first course of the level A1 (Beginner), which comprises classes A1.1, A1.2, and A1.3. During the three A1 general French courses, the students will learn to interact in a simple way, to ask and answer simple questions about themselves, and to initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

• Course Type: Online. Please keep in mind that online courses are limited to six students. If the course is full, please let us know your interest, and we will try to open an additional class.
• Course Type: Regular. 10 weeks, twice per week, 1.5H per session on Zoom. Total 30 hours (class time).
• Prerequisite: None. This class is for complete beginners. If you have any prior exposure to French, this class is not for you! Please take a placement test: https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
• Content of the A1.1 course: chapters 1 to 3—alphabet and numbers, basic vocabulary for the classroom, introduce and describe oneself (nationality, profession), situate people and places, etc.
• Next course: General French A1.2.
