Along with the textbook and workbook and various action-oriented and creative activities, students will be able to have a basic conversation in French through topics related to their everyday life and environment. While broadening their vocabulary and strengthening the use of present and future tense, students will approach the past tense and learn how to talk about personal experiences and to give their opinion. All activities are conducted mainly in French with an immersive approach.

Note: The course A2 Teens is designed for 13-17y-old students who are comfortable interacting in French in a simple way. During three quarters, along with the textbook “À la une 2” and various other multimedia resources, students will be able to have a basic conversation in French through topics related to their everyday life and environment. They will learn to talk about events in the past with more precision and to formulate opinions. All activities are conducted mainly in French with an immersive approach.

• Course Type: Online. Please keep in mind that online youth courses are limited to seven students. If the course is full, please let us know your interest, and we will try to open an additional class.
• Course Pace: Regular, 10 weeks, once per week, 1.5 hours per session on Zoom, for a class-time total of 15 hours per quarter. This is the first class of the academic year 2021-2022; the enrolled learners will finish the course in June.
• Prerequisite: A1 level (60-90 hours of instruction in French), instructor's recommendation, or A2 Teens at placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/

Objectives
Objectives of level A2:
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment, and matters in areas of immediate need.
