In the upper intermediate level B2, students will learn to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. They will develop the capacity to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. They will learn to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Note: This is a self-study course recommended for reviewing the notions acquired during the B2 level. The activities consist of modules created by Frello, a French as a foreign language startup based in France, to be completed individually on the Alliance Française de Seattle's e-learning platform Apolearn. The activities include grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, oral comprehension, and written comprehension exercises. Learners are recommended to follow a pace of 2-3 hours weekly over 10 weeks, but they can finish the modules faster or slower--the platform will be open for a total of 12 weeks, until December 31, 2021. The modules are self-correcting, and they should be completed in order.

• The course will open on Friday, October 8 and will close on Friday, December 31.
• A tutor will be available during weekly office hours on Fridays 12.30-1.30PM, October 15 - December 17. You can book slots of 15’ if you have questions. Please be advised that there is no teaching during the office hours, just Q&A.
• Prerequisite: B2.3 course, a B2+ specialized course, or C1 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than three quarters are recommended to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
