In the level B1, students will learn to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Students will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Students will learn to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and will be able to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions. They will learn to briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

This course is designed to improve specific writing skills for a particular level. It comprises four one-hour group lessons (Jan 18, Feb 1, Feb 15, Mar 1) and four 30-min individual lessons (to be booked on Tue 9-9.30AM and/or Tue 9.35-10.05AM, 10.05-10.35AM, between Jan 25 and Mar 15).

- Topic 1: Write the plot of a movie or a book.
- Topic 2: Recommend a place for a trip or a restaurant.
- Topic 3: Express the agreement or disagreement.
- Topic 4: Personal letters: organizing a letter, formulas of politeness.

• Course Type: Online. Please keep in mind that this course is limited to four students. If the course is full, please let us know your interest, and we will try to open an additional class.

• Course Pace: Regular, 8 weeks, one 1H group session on Zoom every other week + 30 minutes of one-on-one with the instructor per topic. Total: 10-12 hours (6 hours of class time + 4-6 hours of independent writting).

• Prerequisite: General French B1.3 course, B1 Review, any B1+ specialized course, or B2.1 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
