We offer three age groups: Kids (6-8 years old), Youth (9-12 years old) and Teens (13-16 years old).
Please note that there are two beginner camp options (both under the category A1 Beginner):
- A0 Discovery is for complete beginners (zero knowledge of French);
- A1 Beginner is for students who are currently enrolled in A1.1 or A1.2, or new students who place at A1 in the placement test (https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/).

Note: • Description: French lessons and exercises in the classroom with our smart board, interactive games in Meridian Park, and exploratory activities in or around the historical building of the Good Shepherd Center.
• Theme: The general theme for 2022 is "Les Explorateurs" (The Explorers). Each camp will focus on three main secondary themes: Nature, Art, and History. Each camp will offer different activities adapted to the fluency level of its campers!
• Week 6: Jul 25-29 (five days).
• Level: A2 Elementary, for AFSeattle students enrolled in Pingouins, and for new students with an A2 result at AFSeattle’s placement test for summer camps.
• Instructors: AFSeattle instructors specialized in teaching French as a foreign language to youth.
• Number of campers: Between 5 and 8.
• Member-only Early Registration: March 15, noon Pacific Time to May 31, noon Pacific Time. Regular Registration: Starting May 31, at 1PM Pacific Time (non-members pay an additional $40 registration fee). Youth membership is recommended to void the registration fee and to get $15 off any additional camp. You can purchase a membership any time to have access to the member-only early registration. Objectives
Objectives of level A2:
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment, and matters in areas of immediate need.
