Dictée immersive dans le monde d'Hervé Le Tellier

Dictée immersive dans le monde d'Hervé Le Tellier

Hello Francophones and French learners! We are back for a new installment of your favorite French exercise: the dictée. This time, the Alliance Française de Seattle invites you to discover author Hervé Le Tellier through an immersive experience into his literary world.

Hervé Le Tellier is a French writer and linguist, and a member of the international literary group Oulipo. He won the 2020 Prix Goncourt for The Anomaly.

This dictée is non-competitive and recommended for fluency levels of B1 or above.

How does it work?

  • RSVP if you wish to participate, and you will receive a Zoom link for the event.
  • Participants can choose between pen and paper, for an authentic experience, or to type their text on a computer (make sure you can still have a clear view of the Zoom event).
  • We trust you not to cheat, that would defeat the purpose—and the fun!
  • AFSeattle instructor Pauline Chateau will be reading the text of the dictée. There are several readings:
    • First reading: to discover the text in its entirety (not a dictation).
    • Dictation: Pauline will read the text slowly, and participants will write down the text as best they can. Usually, sentences and paragraphs are read at least twice at a slow pace.
    • Final reading: to hear the complete text again and look over any forgotten words, mistakes, and punctuation marks.
  • Pauline will then lead the correction session and reveal the original text. Participants can follow and correct their own versions. This is the time to discuss new vocabulary, compare mistakes or successes, and have fun as a group!
  • The event will close with a lucky draw: a participant chosen at random will win a prize!

A CHANCE TO WIN A PRIZE!

A novel by Hervé Le Tellier will be offered to a lucky winner, whose name will be picked at random at the end of the event.
