Dictée immersive dans le monde de Colette

Dictée du printemps: Immersion in the World of Colette

Hello Francophones and French learners! This is the Spring edition of your favorite French exercise: the dictée. The Alliance Française de Seattle invited you to discover French author Colette through an immersive experience into her literary world.

This dictée is non-competitive and recommended for fluency levels of B1 or above.

How does it work?

  • RSVP to this event if you wish to participate, and you will receive a Zoom link for the event.
  • Participants can choose between pen and paper, for an authentic experience, or to type their text on a computer (make sure you can still have a clear view of the Zoom event).
  • We trust you not to cheat, that would defeat the purpose—and the fun!
  • AFSeattle instructor Camille will be reading the text of the dictée. There are several readings:
    • First reading: to discover the text in its entirety (not a dictation).
    • Dictation: Camille will read the text slowly, and participants will write down the text as best they can. Usually, sentences and paragraphs are read at least twice at a slow pace.
    • Final reading: to hear the complete text again and look over any forgotten words, mistakes, and punctuation marks.
  • Camille will then lead the correction session and reveal the original text. Participants can follow and correct their own versions. This is the time to discuss new vocabulary, compare mistakes or successes, and have fun as a group!
  • The event will close with a lucky draw: a participant chosen at random will win a prize!

A CHANCE TO WIN A PRIZE!

Two novels by Colette will be offered to a lucky winner, whose name will be picked at random at the end of the event.
