Baking Contest | Des bûches en bouche ! | December 3 - 30

This year for the festive celebrations we invite you to bake a bûche de Noël! Often called a Yule log in English, a bûche is a traditional Christmas cake, often served as a dessert near Christmas, especially in France, Belgium, and Switzerland. The cake emerged in the 19th century, probably in France, before spreading to other countries. It is traditionally made from a genoise, generally baked in a large, shallow Swiss roll pan, iced, rolled to form a cylinder, and iced again on the outside. The most common combination is basic yellow sponge cake and chocolate buttercream, though many variations that include chocolate cake, ganache, and icing flavored with espresso or liqueurs exist.

Step 1

Bake your bûche! Feel free to follow a recipe
of your choice or the following ones:

You are entirely free to decorate your bûche the way you want, add fruits, etc.; in other words, be creative!

Step 2

Post a photo of your bûche online!
Deadline to participate: December 30.

Good Shepherd Center Holiday Glow light experience | December 1-31

From December 1 to 31, 5-9pm, the front garden and the area surrounding the Good Shepherd Center's entrance will be aglow! Free and open to all. #gscholidaylights

The Good Shepherd Center is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was designated a Seattle Landmark in 1984. The property is owned and operated by Historic Seattle, and the center houses non-profit organizations, including the Alliance Française de Seattle. There is free parking on site.

The Good Shepherd Centre Holiday Lights is an event organized by Historic Seattle and proudly supported by the Alliance Française de Seattle
