French Summer Camps 2026

The Alliance Française de Seattle offers in-person, full day summer camps at its Wallingford location for ages 6 to 12, at the A1 Beginner and A2 Intermediate levels. Our week-long day camps will offer an immersive and creative approach to practicing French, with all the fun of a regular summer camp.

For ages 13-17, we also offer a half-day teen program! Continue your learning in and out of the classroom with French games, activities, and real-life conversations.

Like all Alliances Françaises, we offer French as a foreign language course programs (in French ‘FLE’ for ‘Français Langue Etrangère’) and not as a native/second language course programs (in French ‘FLAM’ for ‘Français LAngue Maternelle’). This means that our youth students are non-francophones.

Schedule & Themes

June 29 – July 2: Across the Oceans

Dive into an extraordinary voyage beneath the seas as campers explore ocean life, underwater ecosystems, and marine adventures, while learning French along the way. Through stories, games, and creative activities, children will discover the wonders of Cousteau, sea creatures and more!

July 6-10: World Champions

Embark on a voyage through the exciting world of sports and international competition. From the 2024 Paris Olympics to the Seattle games of the World Cup 2026, and L.A. Olympics 2028, we all speak the language of sport. Campers will explore how sport connects cultures across the globe. Through movement, team games, and collaborative challenges, campers will practice French in a dynamic, playful setting while discovering the Olympic values of unity, respect, and fair play.

July 13-17: French Islands

Set off on an extraordinary voyage to French-speaking islands around the world, from Tahiti and Guadeloupe to La Réunion and beyond. Campers will explore island cultures, landscapes, music, and traditions while practicing French through immersive activities.

July 20-24: Adventure in Paris

Travel on an extraordinary voyage to Paris, the heart of French culture and history. Campers will discover famous landmarks, art, food, and daily life in the City of Light through interactive games and creative projects in French.

July 27 – 31: Across the Universe

Blast off on a trip across the universe, exploring space, planets, and scientific imagination, all while learning French. Campers will expand their vocabulary through experiments, storytelling, and cosmic adventures beyond Earth.

What can I expect from an in-person French camp?

French lessons and exercises in the classroom with our interactive smartboard, games and outdoor play in our beautiful Meridian Park, exploratory activities in the historical building of the Good Shepherd Center, and a fun hands-on project allowing our campers to get creative and collaborative around the camp's theme.

What is the camp schedule?

Full day camps for age groups 6-7 years old and 8-12 years old will take place weekly at our Wallingford location: Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm. Each day combines short French lessons, structured activities, games, lunch and snack breaks, and free playtime. See our detailed sample schedule above!

How much French should I expect my child to learn?

Our camps are open to all children who are either complete beginner, beginner or intermediate in French. They aren’t expected to become fluent from their camp experience, but they will go home having learned new words and phrases (and having made new friends!). Our objective is to get campers curious and interested in the language through fun activities, games, and self-expression.

Why is the AFSeattle program of French camps so unique?

Our camps' weekly themes trigger students' curiosity, activate their need to speak, use their creativity, express their emotions, and inspire them to defend their ideas all while learning French! Our camp instructors are French teachers with an extensive experience in teaching youth, and who have been constantly innovating our youth programs to adapt to new needs and formats.

French as a Foreign Language (vs Français Langue Maternelle)

Please note that the Alliances Françaises offer French as a foreign language course programs (in French ‘FLE’ for ‘Français Langue Etrangère’) and not as a native/second language course programs (in French ‘FLAM’ for ‘Français LAngue Maternelle’). This means that our youth students are non-francophones; they do not speak French at home or have not been following an immersion program.

Do I need to buy a membership for my child(ren)?

A membership is not mandatory to enroll, however, there are many benefits to becoming a member at the time of enrollment:

The $40 registration fee will be waived
You can access priority enrollment and our lowest tuition pricing during our member-only Early Bird
You will receive a 5% discount code for siblings during regular registration
Additional enrollments will automatically be discounted 5% during regular registration.
You will gain access to our many member perks!

What is the camp daily schedule?

This is what a camp day might look like:

9am - 9:30am	Drop-off and free play (French books/drawings/games)
9:30 - 9:45am	Welcome and daily routine / circle time
9:45am - 10:45am	French lesson of the day
10:45am - 11am	Break/snack time
11am - 12pm	Group activities / games in French
12pm - 1pm	Lunch & outdoor play / playground time
1pm - 2pm	Special activity to put into practice the French lesson of the day
2pm - 3pm	Themed project
3pm - 3:30pm	Review of the day, snack, clean up time
3:30pm - 4pm	Free play / Pick up

Tuition for full day 5-day camps: $495
- Member Early Registration: $465
Tuition for full day 4-day camp (week of June 29 – July 2 only): $410
- Member Early Registration: $385
Tuition for half-day teen camps: $350
- Member Early Registration: $329
Non-member registration fee: $40 per enrollment (waived for members)

WHAT'S INCLUDED

All arts & craft supplies and learning materials are included in the tuition. No additional purchases are required!
Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks and water bottle.

Policies

Memberships & Discounts

With a youth membership for a single child, or a family membership for siblings:

You can access priority enrollment and early registration discounts during our Member-only Early Bird registration period (January 15 - March 1, 2026)
The $40 registration fee is waived (applied per enrollment per student)
During the Regular Registration period:
- Campers enrolled in one camp receive 5% off any additional camp
- With an active family membership, each sibling receives 5% off on their camp

New students can become members at any time. If you are registering two (2) or three (3) students in the same family, please purchase the family membership.

Enrollment & Placement Test

There must be one enrollment per student.

Our placement test is mandatory for all new students, or students returning after more than 3 quarters: please start the test here.

Cancellations & Refunds

Until May 10: full tuition refund minus a $40 cancellation fee.
From May 11: no refunds.
No refunds on registration fees or memberships.

Minimum Attendance

Minimum of 4 students required for a camp to take place. Camps will be cancelled if there are less than 4 students enrolled by 2 (two) weeks before the start date.
