In a suburban Brussels school, Amal (Lubna Azaba), an idealistic and passionate literature teacher, champions her students' love for reading and freedom of expression, even when it puts her at odds with the community. Her decision to teach the works of Arabic poet Abu Nuwas sparks intense resistance from a community swayed by Islamic extremism.
