Dictée dans le monde de Polina Panassenko

Dictée dans le monde de Polina Panassenko

Hello Francophones and French learners! We are back for a new installment of your favorite French exercise: the dictée. This time, the Alliance Française de Seattle invites you to discover author Polina Panassenko with an in-person dictée at the Alliance Française de Seattle. This will also be the occasion to discover our French-language library and our latest staff picks!

Polina Panassenko is a French-Russian author, translator and actress. Born in the USSR, she emigrated to France as a child, where she grew up as "Pauline". With her first novel Tenir sa langue, she received the Prix Femina des Lycéens in 2022.

This dictée is non-competitive and recommended for fluency levels of B1 or above.

How does it work?

  • RSVP if you wish to participate (free event)
  • Participants join us in person at AFSeattle on March 22 at 5:30pm. Pen and paper will be provided.
  • AFSeattle instructor Pauline Chateau will be reading the text of the dictée. There are several readings:
    • First reading: to discover the text in its entirety (not a dictation).
    • Dictation: Pauline will read the text slowly, and participants will write down the text as best they can. Usually, sentences and paragraphs are read at least twice at a slow pace.
    • Final reading: to hear the complete text again and look over any forgotten words, mistakes, and punctuation marks.
  • Pauline will then lead the correction session and reveal the original text. Participants can follow and correct their own versions. This is the time to discuss new vocabulary, compare mistakes or successes, and have fun as a group!
  • After the dictée, participants will have the opportunity to browse our French-language books, discover our staff picks, and borrow books. A membership is required to borrow books from our library!

Sorry, you've missed the RSVP deadline for this event.
