The Alliance Française de Seattle provides outstanding French language education, promotes Francophone cultures, and fosters a vibrant Francophile community, serving people of all ages in Washington state. Our vision is to create a welcoming hub where all learners thrive, cultures connect, and a lifelong love of Francophone cultures flourishes.
We serve over 1,500 members and more than 1,000 students annually, offering classes, cultural events, workshops, and Seattle’s largest French‑language library.
As our programs have grown, our current facilities can no longer meet demand. In 2026, we are renovating newly leased space inside the Good Shepherd Center to create:
Our current library often doubles as a classroom, limiting access. The new library will be open throughout all business hours, finally giving members and visitors a welcoming place to read, study, and explore French culture. The new library will make French‑language materials more accessible than ever, supporting students, teachers, families, and Francophiles.
The updated library area will also support workshops, literary programs, family activities, and small events, reducing our reliance on external venues and improving our ability to connect our community onsite.
Renovations will allow us to reconfigure space for instruction with two new classrooms, and install modern smartboards and technology. More functional classrooms and modern equipment will enhance teaching and learning, and support continued growth in enrollment.
