Les Lézards helps children build confidence in French through conversation, stories, games, creative activities, and age-appropriate reading and writing.
Les Lézards is our French program for elementary-age children ages 6–8. Through an immersive and interactive approach, students develop practical communication skills while discovering French through stories, projects, games, songs, and Francophone culture.
The program is designed to grow with children over several years, gradually developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while keeping learning engaging and age-appropriate.
Best for: Children ages 6–8, from complete beginners to students with previous French experience.
Les Lézards offers a progressive pathway that allows children to build their French skills over time.
Designed for complete beginners and children beginning the Lézards pathway. Students learn to understand and use simple everyday French through games, stories, songs, classroom interaction, and creative activities. Age-appropriate reading and writing are gradually introduced alongside oral communication.
Students expand their vocabulary and begin communicating with greater confidence. They practice understanding and producing more complete sentences while continuing to strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through interactive activities and projects.
Students consolidate their beginner French and become increasingly comfortable communicating about familiar topics. They continue developing comprehension, vocabulary, reading, writing, and spoken interaction while preparing for the next stage of the AFSeattle youth pathway.
Children ages 6–8 with little or no previous French experience should begin with Lézards 1, Part 1.
Children with previous French experience should complete our youth placement assessment so we can recommend the most appropriate level.
Enrollment for Winter 2027 opens on November 12, 2026.
