The Alliance Française de Seattle offers in-person summer camps at its Wallingford location: full day camps for kids ages 6 to 12, and a half-day program for teens ages 13 to 17. All of our camps take an immersive, creative approach to practicing French, with all the fun of a regular summer camp.
For kids ages 6 to 12, enjoy full day French camps at the A1 Beginner and A2 Intermediate levels,
Every week of camp is built around a new immersive French theme; past themes have included Across the Oceans, World
Champions,
French Islands, Adventure in Paris, and Across the Universe.
Teens ages 13 to 17 join a half-day program at the A2 Intermediate and B1 Independent levels, continuing their learning in and out of the classroom through French games, sports activities, music, and real-life conversations. Working on creative, student-produced content, teens build confidence and fluency in French while connecting the language to the culture and topics they care about.
Here is what our families have to say about our Summer Camps:
"Our kids attended this camp and another French immersion camp this summer. The difference in quality and experience was incredible. The Alliance Francaise experience got my kids to sing and talk in French from day 1. Even my nervous, shy 5 year old had an absolute blast!"
"[My daughter] was excited and engaged on a daily basis. She enjoyed the pace and content. The instructor was clearly engaging
and welcoming."
"Jeanne était patiente et flexible avec [mon enfant], et j'imagine avec tous les campeurs. Sa bonne humeur était évidente et je ne
peux pas dire combien j'étais reconnaissante de son énergie !"
"Providence and his cultural experience was awesome."
"[We liked] the native speaker counselors and art education + related activities, also the outdoor time."
Like all Alliances Françaises, we offer French as a foreign language course programs (in French ‘FLE’ for ‘Français Langue
Etrangère’) and not as a native/second language course programs (in French ‘FLAM’ for ‘Français LAngue Maternelle’). This means
that our youth students are non-francophones.
Younger campers explore themes through short French lessons, games, creative projects, and plenty of outdoor play, while teens bring the themes to life through music, sports, lively conversation, and their own student-produced content. Weekly themes and dates for the upcoming season are announced before registration opens — check back soon!
