Join Alliance Française de Seattle and Sjj agency for a special screening of the 2024 animated film Hola Frida! by André Kadi and Karine Vézina. The film is inspired by the children's book Je m'appelle Frida Kahlo by the Québécoise actress Sophie Faucher, illustrated by Mexican-Canadian visual artist Cara Carmina. Stay after the film for a book signing with our special guest, Cara Carmina!

At this occasion, Sjj agency will present a special exhibition created in homage to Sophie Faucher, who passed away on June 9. Developed with Cara Carmina, this tribute will be displayed at the Alliance Française, offering visitors a heartfelt moment to honor Sophie’s artistic legacy and the inspiration she continues to bring to our community.

Cara Carmina

Cara Carmina is a Mexican-Canadian visual artist based in Montréal since 2009. An illustrator, author, textile designer, and doll maker, she has published more than twenty children’s books, several of which she also wrote. In October 2026, she will join an art residency in Seattle organized in partnership with FASPS and Sjj agency, dedicated to exploring the legacy of Frida Kahlo. Find out more.
