In the upper intermediate level B2, students will learn to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. They will develop the capacity to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. They will learn to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

The B2 Review course is designed to strengthen all major skills acquired during this level. Students of this course will work on expressing opinions on current affairs and socio-cultural topics, giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. Course materials include newspaper articles, TV and radio shows, film and literary excerpts. At the end of the B2 level, learners are expected to communicate with a degree of spontaneity and fluency in a way that is comfortable for everyone.
• Prerequisite: B2.3 course or B2.3 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than three quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
