In the level B1, students will learn to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Students will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. Students will learn to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and will be able to describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions. They will learn to briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Note: Please keep in mind that all courses are currently conducted online; this particular course is limited to four students. If the course is full, please let us know your interest, and we will try to open an additional class.

The written expression course is designed to improve specific writing skills for a particular level. It comprises four one-hour group lessons (Oct 12, Oct 26, Nov 9, Nov 23) and four 30-min individual lessons (to be booked on Tue 9-9.30AM and/or Tue 9.35-10.05AM, 10.05-10.35AM, between Oct 19 and Dec 7). This course will allow you to travel in writing. You will work on a notes & queries on travel, introducing the most beautiful country, region, or city you ever saw, describing a failed trip, writing about the best (or the worst) culinary experience, and sharing your thoughts about an unusual travel.

• Prerequisite: B1.3 course, B1 Review, or B2.1 result at placement test. New students and students returning after more than three quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/
