Fundraising Goals 2023

As a dynamic educational and cultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Alliance Française de Seattle relies on public support and private donations to serve its community. Our language and cultural center is successfull thanks to the commitment of our dedicated staff and teachers. With the generous help of our community of donors and sponsors, we can continue to provide unique cultural and educational programs.

We need your help to amplify our mission and create bilingual opportunities accessible to everyone in our community. Seattle has become an international professional hub where more multicultural arts programs and language diversity should be encouraged and nurtured. With your support, the Alliance Française de Seattle can play a leading role in developing partnerships across cultures and disciplines.

Whether you are a student, a young professional, a generous benefactor, or an admirer of all things French and Francophone, your support is important and greatly appreciated. Each and every donation, no matter the amount, contributes to the growth of our vibrant community of French learners and culture enthusiasts.

Our goal is to raise $35,000 for the following programs and projects in 2024:

Cultural & Arts Programs

Help us bring more French and Francophone internationally acclaimed cultural events to Seattle! Some of our biggest cultural projects in 2024 are the Night of Ideas and welcoming the French dance show Sous le Poids des Plumes (May).

  • The Night of Ideas (March 2024)

The AFSeattle will participate in this world wide celebration featuring philosophical debates, performances, and readings across 20+ cities. Launched in the US in 2015 by the French Embassy, the Night of Ideas gathers thought leaders to engage the public in discussion around a central question that addresses major, contemporary global issues. AFSeattle participated for the first time in 2023, bringing Seattle to the list of participating cities. Help us grow this event in 2024!

  • Sous le poids des plumes (May 2024)

The AFSeattle partners with Théatre Raymond Kabbaz in Los Angeles and FIAF in New York to present the US tour of Compagnie Pyramid’s dance and theater show Sous le poids des plumes, a lively piece of poetry, storytelling and burlesque play. Throughout their choreography and playful acting, four dancers embark on a poetic journey and offer us glimpses of everyday life, tender, humorous, and a bit mischievous. New York, Los Angeles and Seattle will be the only three cities hosting this French troupe!

Scholarships & Education Innovation

  • Scholarships

Every year, thanks to the support of our sponsors and donors, we continue to expand our scholarship program. Our focus is to benefit French learners and families in need, who would not otherwise be able to access foreign-language education.

Our scholarships benefit all Washington state residents, whether they enroll online or in person. Most scholarships are partial, with a few full scholarships awarded on a case-by-case basis. Our focus is to benefit families in need, who would not otherwise be able to access foreign-language education, but we also award scholarships to adults who have goals for their continuing education.

  • Learning Resources

Let's guarantee access to the excellent learning tool Frello for all our students in 2024! Since 2023, the Alliance Française de Seattle is the first (and currently only) Alliance Française to offer Frello modules to its students. Frello is a web blended learning platform for French teachers and their learners, which allows incredible learning reinforcement for our students: series modules to practice their skills and knowledge at their own rhythm, created by FLE (French as a Foreign Language) industry professionals, covering all aspects of the language.

  • Community & Library Programs

Our library continues to grow and become modernized thanks to our volunteers and donors. Our goals is to expand our budget for contemporary books, and to continue to offer free or affordable popular programs: Ciné-Salon, Salon Littéraire, Storytime in French, Dictées,managed with passion by our staff and instructors, online and in person.

  • Youth Innovation Grant

This grant kickstarts innovative projects exploring and encouraging French and bilingual education, conceptualized and executed by our youth students. Our 2023 grant recipient is bringing a French Little Library to Wallingford!
