Jouval Pétanque Tournament @ Magnolia SummerFest

Alliance Française de Seattle and Petit Pierre Bakery are excited to present this year's Jouval Tournament, organized by the Seattle Pétanque Club, in partnership with UFE Seattle. This annual competition, help since 2010, is Seattle Pétanque Club's biggest event and was named in honor of Henri Jouval, a longtime member of the club and an enthusiastic "boules" (pétanque) player from France.

Join us at the annual Magnolia SummerFest on Sunday, August 6 from 10am - 5pm to test your pétanque skills or cheer for your favorite team!

The winning teams will take home cash prizes as well as gift certificates from Petit Pierre Bakery and the Alliance Française de Seattle.

How to participate in the tournament as a player:

• Get a team together (2 people per team) and choose a team name!
• Registration costs $30 per team.
• Register your team below (only one person needs to register/pay for their 2-person team)
• We can host a maximum of 16 teams.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

10am - 12:30pm: Qualifying rounds

• Every team will get to play 3 games 
• Games are timed (45-50 minutes) 
• At the end of the qualifying rounds, teams are ranked by wins vs losses, and point differential as a tie-breaker. They are then assigned a tier and a game for the afternoon's second round.

12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch break

1:30pm - 3:30pm: Second round (Brackets)

• Top 6 teams will play against each other (elimination system) for the Concours Prize
• Middle 4 teams will play against each other (elimination system) for the Consolante Prize
• Lowest 2 teams will play for the Participant's Prize
• Games are timed (55min - 1h)

3:30pm: Championship round

• The top two teams competing for the Concours Prize will play each other in this final game! 
• This game is untimed

Prizes

• Concours Prize Winners: $175 cash + 2 individual memberships to the Alliance Française de Seattle
  • Runner-up: $150 cash + two $25 gift cards from Petit Pierre Bakery
• Consolante Prize Winners: $75 cash + two $25 AFSeattle gift cards
  • Runner-up: $50 cash + two $25 gift cards from Petit Pierre Bakery
• Participant's Prize: $30
